Project Estimate Task breakdown values represent the sub-tasks/phases required to design and build a Dimension or Fact. E.g., Analysis, Design, Build, Test. This can be useful in development planning to understand the amount of work and resourcing required in each category. I.e. How much work do you have for Business Analysts, Modelers, Developers etc.
The Task Breakdowns are used in the Matrix to generate the Matrix estimates tables.
For each of the Task breakdown items, you can specify.
- Name will be used as the title in the Matrix Estimate Breakdown, with the Description displayed as a tooltip on hover.
- The Daily Cost Rate is the rate to be charged for a day's work on each task type. There may be different rates for business analysis vs development for example. In future versions of SchemaSight, a Cost estimate will be available.
- The Estimated Effort % denotes the effort required for each task type as a percentage of the entire build for the Fact or Dimension. There can be as few as two tasks and as many as ten, with the shared effort percentage adding up to 100% (recommended).
- The Order value specifies the order that each item will be displayed in the Matrix Estimate table. The order is in Decimal format, which lets you move tasks in the order without changing the order of every other task type.
